Working With Baptist Medical & Dental Missions
During the last week of May and the first week of June, I was in Nicaragua working with Baptist Medical and Dental Missions (BMDMI). BMDMI sends short-term and full-time missionaries abroad to minister to impoverished people through medical-dental volunteer mission teams, children’s homes, Christian schools, and other benevolent programs. I have never been around a mission organization that puts as much time into their work as they do. Currently, BMDMI serves the countries of Nicaragua and Honduras. They are considering expansion into El Salvador and Guatemala in the future.

15 Trips and Over 10,000 Vaccinations: The Year in Review
Over the past year, Thousand Hills has supported teams traveling to Nicaragua and Honduras with veterinary supplies to help the people of these villages vaccinate and deworm their livestock.

A light moment from a past mission trip to Nicaragua.

In Rio Grande, the first village we visited, we treated around 650 head of cattle and 250 horses. We also vaccinated several dog for rabies, mindful of their constant contact with people throughout the area. At our second stop, Comalapa, we worked with Dr. Ed Gilslider, thoroughly enjoying our time and making a great friendship. In Comalapa, the cattle were in the mountains so focused on vaccinating the 260 horses of the area and did several surgeries including the amputation of a pig's foot. Several dogs were also vaccinated.
Over the course of the year, we organized 15 teams to provide veterinary services. In total, 10,268 animals were vaccinated. |

Consulting in Bosnia on Agricultural Development
In September, we traveled to Bosnia where we worked with Global Development Consultants on the planning of an agricultural development project. Together, we traveled throughout Bosnia, meeting with representatives of the University of Sarajevo, many farmers, several government officials and the Director of USAID.
